Adam Durand is a graphic designer and noted amateur filmmaker. In 2004, he entered New York State's largest egg farm without permission to document the conditions and produce a film about his experience. His organization, Compassionate Consumers, has since tried to convince the owner of the farm, Wegmans Food Markets, to openly disclose and improve the conditions and practices there. He was convicted of trespass for his open actions and has served one month in jail of a six month sentence. He is currently out on appeal. His story appeared in over 60 newspapers, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, and he was featured on ABC's "Primetime." He resides in Rochester, New York with his partner, Nicole.
